DHL renews 20 year deal with Debenhams

08 September 2016

Debenhams has renewed its multi-million pound contract with DHL to support its long-term omni-channel growth strategy.

DHL Supply Chain has renewed its 20-year partnership with Debenhams for a further five years.

DHL will provide warehousing and distribution to support Debenhams’ omni-channel strategy.

Harnessing sales data, DHL aims to manage Debenhams’ stock to seamlessly support its online, Click and Collect and store replenishment requirements.

Debenhams has 166 stores nationwide and the data-led strategy means stock is delivered in line with real-time purchasing trends, rather than through forecasts.

The supply of stock will be managed from three omni-channel distribution centres and will result in leaner stock holdings; while more effective transport planning will increase efficiency and reduce empty mileage.

DHL also introduced a dual fuel fleet for Debenhams’ logistic operations in the UK and Ireland to drive down CO2 emissions and help the business achieve its ambitious eco-efficiency targets.

“For the past two decades DHL has delivered a quality supply chain solution to Debenhams and we are confident that it will continue to do so over the next five years,” said Michael George, Director of Logistics at Debenhams. “With its breadth of capability and experience in delivering strategic change, DHL is well positioned to support Debenhams’ ambitions in the years ahead.”

Dean Wyatt, VP of Fashion and Beauty at DHL Supply Chain, added: “Our renewed partnership with Debenhams builds on the successes achieved so far and focuses on activities that strengthen DHL’s omni-channel distribution capabilities to meet the evolving demands of the consumer. It further supports DHL’s continued growth in the retail industry and we look forward to working with Debenhams to introduce new initiatives to greater improve efficiencies.”
