Transnorm Group opens a new factory in Thailand
12 January 2018
Transnorm System in Thailand has opened a new centralised production factory in the Bang Bo industrial zone of Eastern Bangkok.
It replaces the Transnorm production factory for the Asia-Pacific region in Kluang (Malaysia). In Bangkok, Transnorm belt curves and inclined conveyors as well as Sovex telescopic conveyors went into production with immediate effect.
Transnorm acquired Sovex in 2015 and merged it with the company.
Transnorm operations director Joachim Michael Gutmayer says: “We are assuming an increase in the production of belt curves of 30%, and for the inclined conveyors and the Sovex telescopic conveyors, we are in fact considering an increase of 100% each.
“We expect a substantially higher production capacity as well as a further reduction in delivery lead times with the renowned high standard of quality.”
With the relocation of the factory in Thailand, the production facility was also completely reorganised and modernised. Moreover, the manufacturing depth was enhanced considerably.
He added that a significant building block for this has been the investment in a highly modern laser cutting system and two bending machines from the Belgian company LVD.
Transnorm has changed from steel to more easily recyclable aluminium for belt curves.
In the words of Mr. Gutmayer, they have also brought the production of the curves in the new factory in Thailand in line with the highly modern production equipment and technology in Germany.
Mr. Gutmayer: "The products, which are now leaving the factory in Thailand, have the same standards as those in Germany, and, if required, they can be adapted to the needs of the Asian market."
The new Transnorm factory in Bangkok has a production facility that is spread across an area of 10,000 sq. metres. Approximately, 120 individuals from seven countries are currently employed there and this includes twenty people from the former factory in Malaysia. Moreover, the benefits offered by the location include the direct proximity to the Suvarnabhumi international airport (which is 20 kilometres away) as well as the international seaport that is just 60 kilometres away.
Mr. Gutmayer: "We have, of course, planned the factory for growth and are as a result best equipped for potential changes to the products in case of market requirements."
