Transmon launches in-cabin UVC

02 March 2022

WITH THE recent global pandemic highlighting the vital role of sanitisation, numerous academic studies have been carried out and global experts have concluded that the use of UVC light is highly effective in eliminating viruses (such as SARS-CoV-2) and bacteria on surfaces and in the air.

Some companies are using sprays and fogging to clean vehicle cabs which leave odours, require drying time, and PPE that has to be disposed of once used. UVC light can sanitise a vehicle cab within a short period, as little as 5 minutes depending on the size of the cab.

Using UVC light is also said to offer a greener alternative to the use of cleaning products which is not only environmentally beneficial but also significantly reduces any waste otherwise resulting from traditional cleaning methods.

The Transmon Engineering UVC System provides a consistent clean when activated as it does not rely on human intervention. This saves on labour as once the UVC lights are installed, the clean is automated thus improving efficiency across the workforce.

A UVC meter, a measuring device, is placed in the vehicle cabin and runs a cycle to process data during the clean. UVC discs are placed within the cab and show the UVC light intensity.

The recommended amount of exposure is 5000uJ/cm² at a distance of 1 metre. The Transmon Engineering (TE) UVC product achieves a 6000uJ/cm² at 1 metre distance from target surface.

Safety glasses should always be worn that will block UVC light. There is no need for additional substances, chemicals or cleaning materials which would then need disposing of.
