Space crisis solved
17 May 2013
Nissan has overcome a critical lack of space at its Sunderland plant by investing in a temporary building from Spaciotempo.

When it became apparent the automotive giant needed to increase space, two options were considered: an extension to the existing plant or storing parts off-site, neither of which proved suitable.
Following the example of some of its contractors that were using temporary buildings, Nissan contacted Spaciotempo for a cost effective, quick to erect solution.
Within weeks the aluminium-framed temporary building was installed on a specially made concrete base.
So it fitted in with Nissan’s development policy of dividing plant floor-space into 18m span bays, the temporary building’s 1944m2 framework was created in bespoke six metre sections.
