Storage building backs up time-critical freight operation
08 May 2018
Smart-Space has completed the construction of a relocatable transit and storage building for Twente Express at the Benelux express transport specialist's headquarters in Brownhills, West Midlands.

The 25-metre by 10-metre structure, with 40mm insulated steel-cladded walls, two roller doors, six low bay lights and a double-layer, air-insulated PVC roof, adds to the 2,400 square metres of warehousing and covered storage space already on-site. It will be used to expedite time-critical freight movements between the UK and Benelux.
"The continued growth of our freight operation volumes means we are evaluating the long-term requirements of the business, but needed additional storage space in the meantime in order to maintain the high levels of service our customers expect," says commercial director Rob Clarke. "Smart-Space's solution of a rented, re-locatable building on our own site gives us an excellent, flexible alternative to renting third-party warehousing, with all the associated shunting and transport costs."
The installation took five days, with the Smart-Space team working around the ongoing operations on the busy site.
"We have been impressed with Smart-Space from start to finish," says Clarke. "The solution, the commercial terms and the construction were all excellent. Now, we look forward to using the new facility to build on our success to date."
