New facility builds on Bendi brand

10 April 2014

Bendi has built a new production facility in Redditch to reinforce the continuing success of the Bendi brand.

Back in 2012, the company built a new production line and opened a UK Parts Facility as part of its "on shoring" of production back into the UK. This planned shift increased delivery speed, quality and it's competitively, leading to an increased demand in the Bendi product.

The Bendi was the original articulated truck, recognised by the Queens Award for Innovation, and still holds the coveted position of market leader. Through a process of continual improvement and innovative products and solutions, customers have benefited from definable improvements to their bottom line; ultimately saving space, time and money.

Innovations like the multi-award winning Mini Bendi, the world’s first articulated Order Picker, the cold store Bendi Arctic and the Long Loader are forging new markets way before any ‘similar competitor products’ arrive. Additionally, due it's patents and designs, all Bendi products will work in an aisle 200mm less than the competition giving it a clear advantage on productivity, efficiency, safety and space saving benefits.

To date over 19,000 Bendi’s have been built and it's staggering to think that the new over rotating truck was launched over 10 years ago and it's this product that has inspired change at the UK factory in Redditch. The new production facility will run along side the one created in 2012, to build both new and re manufactured machines and now customers will be able to choose exactly how their machine is built, much like many other manufactures.

Bendi at CeMAT

As the global market leader for articulated forklift trucks, Bendi will be exhibiting at CeMAT (Hall 26, Stand K09), the worlds leading trade fair for intralogistics. The exhibition, which will be held in Hannover, Germany from 19-23 May is of real strategic importance for Bendi as they make significant inroads into the European materials handling market, according to Bendi Managing Director Simon Brown.

"As predicted in 2012, European interest in the Bendi articulated truck has grown considerably,” commented Simon. "After successfully breaking into important market places throughout the world, including most notably, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and North America, the toughest nut to crack was always going to be closer to home – mainland Europe. That has now changed with the expansion of our Export sales team, leading to a number of key deals in 2013, and the introduction of strategic Dealer partners in France, Holland, Belgium and the Nordic countries. This means we have fantastic opportunities for potential dealers in Germany.”

Bendi will also be exhibiting at a number of other key European shows, and a little closer to home at the TOC Europe Show in London from June 24-26.

Along side the bustling line for new equipment, customers can choose a used chassis and fit it out with brand new parts, offering AC performance together with all the other enhancements of the latest Bendi’s, including an ‘as new’ warranty, but at a reduced cost.

Savings are made in a number of areas, from the cost of materials and labour that go into the manufacturing of the 4000kg chassis and castings right through to the all important mast section. Uniquely, Bendi build their own masts, as there are no suitable articulated masts commercials available. Bendi recognised this early on in the development of the Bendi as it struggled to get other masts to be as rigid as Bendi demanded. Masts can now be stripped, rebuilt or replaced to the required height for its new life.

Customers will also have the option to increase savings even further by the fitting of service exchange parts as opposed to brand new parts.
