Semi automatic baler
13 May 2015
In contrast with a previous throughput of 2t of cardboard per day, using a CB65X semi-automatic Durapac baler from Compact and Bale, Medway Drums can now process 2t of cardboard per hour, fork-lift feeding.

Having initially invested in a MacFab550 vertical baler, it soon became clear that Medway Drums needed a more automated process as a result of the vast amount of tonnage being collected from sites across the UK. As a smaller baler, the machine required more man hours for less output so the CB65X semi-automatic baler provided a solution.
For plastics a BalePress 18 from Strautmann’s ‘Automate to Save’ range was selected, enabling Medway Drums to generate further revenue from waste materials and systemise waste management processes for plastics as well as cardboard.
